Paintings:

I am considered an emerging artist, as these are my creations for the past year, I have been evolving as I am learning new techniques.

1) "Twisted Blues", Acrylic paint in ribbon layering.

2) "Grecian", Acrylic painted overlaid with marbling, finished with polished resin.

3) "Approaching", Mixed media poured paint finished with resin.

4) "Jon in Cloud", Mixed media poured paint.

Most people ask how I create my work, for it is multi-layered. After being satisfied with a background painting I begin to layer color using a different technique just as if when you look at something, how the light, shadows, or some other substance give another layer on top of that object. Then I finish my work with a polished finish for practical purposes and stylized look.

Since I have studied Earth Science, geology, hydrology and geomorphology my art predominately has a sedimentary rock layering look; emulating the colorful beauty of nature's artwork.

Looking back over my practical painting experiences over the years from painting walls, boats, school projects, signs and furniture I found a common theme in that I had an innate talent for mixing paints to the desired shade of color. Color and a romantic pattern of flow seem to be present. Going forward I am excited to see where my evolution of an artist will transcend me.
